THE GODDESS: Explorations of Power and Personal History through Painting and Print
Ideas and images shared en masse are quintessential to human experience. Jungian notions of the impact collective archetypes have on our behavioral patterns has influenced me significantly, causing exploration of both their ancient and contemporary incarnations. In particular, my approach to portraying powerful female figures from ancient myth across cultures is one of self-reflection, reverence, and Revisionism. I invite scrutiny on the ingrained effects folklore has had in shaping common perceptions and behaviors, particularly those tied to femininity and power.
I work in print media to fulfill my passion for the analog and to reflect its transformative impact on global visual culture, often represented by satirical posters. These expose how social and environmental issues are perpetuated by their portrayals in mass media, paralleled across generations. Nostalgic image styles from a bygone time, created with what was once the height of image mass production technology reflect the concept of false progress.
