Altared States (2018)
Caved Board and Collaged Paper, 72"x48"
Created for the group exhibition, Serenade and Nocturne in the Swell Gallery in SF, Altared States, explores the impact of framing and perspectives on one's identity, especially when they inhabit multiple all at once. In all my work, I focus on both concepts and methods of deconstruction and reconstruction, through a lens that examines representations of femininity. With techniques of printmaking and collage, I explore ways to both scrutinize remnants and build futures that have been impacted by interconnected histories of identity construction. The stories we are told and the ways that they effect us are more complex than we often realize.
